About Victoria Pursley

An APRN, BC, CS is a Board Certified Advanced Practice Registered Nurse who is a Clinical Specialist in Psychiatric and Mental Health and a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner who is licensed in the State of Massachusetts to provide psychopharmacology (write prescriptions), psychotherapy (counseling), consultation, and teach.

Other APRNs in the State of Massachusetts include Nurse Practitioners (adult, family, pediatric), Nurse Midwives, and Nurse Anesthetists.  In Massachusetts, CS and Psych. NPs can open private practices while being supervised by a psychiatrist (which I am). 

The training is extensive and passing National Board Exams provide Board Certification. I have more than 30 years of past experience in mental health. I have conducted individual and/or family therapy for adolescents and adults, play therapy for children, couples therapy, group therapy, and provided psychopharmacology (medications &/or appropriately researched herbals) for adults.

I equally work part-time as an adult nurse practitioner in an internal medicine group practice with 2 MDs. I will work adjunctively with any of your physical health providers should you wish.

My approach to psychotherapy is cognitive behavioral (becoming aware of how you function and how you can actively change behaviors which are detrimental to your mental health), holistic (mind body spirit), directive, and supportive for adults. I may recommend and provide psychopharmacology (medications) services.
